Aberdeen’s acting police chief, Joe Euton, shows off the new paint job and decals on Aberdeen’s police cruiser in front of Simon Kenton Bridge in Aberdeen. The cruiser was returned to the village, Jan. 19, after the painting and decal work was complete. The work on the cruiser was donated.
ABERDEEN – It’s not a new police cruiser Aberdeen residents may have noticed within the past month circling through the village, but a used cruiser that the Village of Aberdeen purchased last year. Sometimes it’s unbelievable what a new paint job and decals can do for a vehicle.
Through donations, Aberdeen’s acting police chief, Joe Euton, was able to “bring life”to the village’s police cruiser, improving the image of the police department and posting on the cruiser one of Aberdeen’s greatest beauties, Simon Kenton Bridge that stretches across the Ohio River.
The decal work was donated by Jocquer Graphics of Middletown and the new paint job was donated by a friend of an Aberdeen police officer, according to Euton.
In the near future, Euton plans to address citizens’ concerns and suggest to Aberdeen council members and the village Safety Committee that the village move forward with the purchase of a new police cruiser.
“A lot of citizens are requesting that they would like to see a new (police) car. We (police officers) are going to request to the (Aberdeen) Safety Committee and council to give the citizens what they want ... a new (police) car,” said Euton.
Euton is also looking into obtaining in-car computer systems and DVR camera systems to install in the village’s police cruisers, which will aid officers in several ways.
Not only has the Aberdeen Police Department managed to change the look of Aberdeen’s police cruiser, but through several donations from local businesses and free labor from friends and public officials, the department has managed to renovate space in Aberdeen’s Administration Building to be used by the police department.
“People should look for big changes to take place within the Aberdeen Police Department this year, as (Aberdeen) Mayor Bob Meadows said before,” Euton said.
New hats and uniforms may also be part of the changes taking place at the Aberdeen Police Department.
