Karate and Christmas - A Down Home event in Bethel
BETHEL - Bethel resident Steve Dahlheimer has a goal for the upcoming Bethel Down Home Christmas celebration on Saturday, Dec. 5. Dahlheimer wants to raise 100 toys in a toy drive at the Bethel United Methodist Church between 1 and 4:30 p.m. for the national Toys for Tots Program.
To help sweeten the pot and encourage donations, Dahlheimer said that every child who donates a toy between 1 and 4:30 p.m. will receive one free month of karate lessons at the Universal Taekwondo Academy. Dahlheimer said he has always wanted to do something like this for the Toys for Tots program, and hopes that the toy drive will help to teach kids about the importance of giving and sharing.
"I've always wanted to do something on a larger scale, and I think offering free lessons would be a good way to help," Dahlheimer said. "This might be something I'll do every year."
