Back again this year, the Christian Theatre for Children is planning the Christmas production, entitled “A Christmas Telethon.

“We are usually planning for Christmas when everyone else is at the pool,” said Debbie Adkins, CTC stage manager. “It takes a lot of planning. Our costumer, Brenda Layton, already has her sewing machine going with eight new angel costumes to make. The angels are going to show up in full force this year. She will also oversee the making of 40 biblical costumes plus various and sundry other costuming. Our leadership team has been listening to Christmas music since June, when our summer camps ended. When you’re working in the theatre, on the day that one production ends, the planning for the next one begins. There’s really no vacation from the stage.”

“Lots of famous people will come to the telethon to perform including, Perry Como, Don Ho and his hula dancers, and even the singing chipmunks, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore,” Adkins said.

This summer CTC hosted two summer camps, putting 70 children on the stage in the combined performances. “We are expecting our registration to fill quickly,” said Sandy Eversole, musical director. “We will be accepting 50 children into our Christmas production. We love our students and continue to be amazed by their talent. It has been exciting to see them grow in their gifts and abilities each year. There will be many vocal solo opportunities for our students in this year’s Christmas show.”

This will be the third Christmas show for the Children’s Theatre. The mission is to help children discover their God-given talents, to find joy and passion in mastering and sharing their talents with the community, and to provide a place for those talents to be displayed. Since the founding of CTC in the spring of 2013, they have produced two Christmas shows, four summer camps, and two winter show choirs that perform at various venues in the county. Rounding out the remaining members of the CTC leadership team are Jill McCarley Dotson, producer, Dody Staker, director, and Dolores Stuhlreyer, production assistant. Dusty Gray and Johnny Staker build the sets.

Christian Theatre for Children, which operates out of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church and the Gaslight Theater welcomes children in grades 3- 12 for this upcoming production scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5. Admission is free and open to the public.

Registration will begin Sept. 1. Children from Brown County and surrounding areas may register. Applications can be found on the website, www.christiantheatreforchildren.com. Children are accepted on a first come, first served basis. All who register will automatically be a part of the production.
