A suspected burglary ring has been busted by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeffrey A. Lindsey, 29, of Georgetown, and Laura Miller, 30, of Cincinnati, are both being held at the Brown County Adult Detention Center on one count of burglary, a second-degree felony, according to documents filed with the Brown County Municipal Court. Lindsey was also charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the municipal court, on July 31, Lindsey trespassed on a property in Pike Township and attempted to steal a DeWalt saw. The property owner, who’s name was not disclosed, returned home to catch Lindsey red handed, according to the affidavit. Lindsey then stated he thought it had been his saw and placed it on the victim’s front porch.

A deputy from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and interviewed Lindsey, who confessed to the attempted theft. He was then interviewed again, according to the affidavit, and the deputy read Lindsey his Miranda Rights, after Lindsey confessed to also stealing jewelry and a black box from the property.

A separate court document states that Miller was with Lindsey during the attempted burglary.

Both Lindsey and Miller face up to eight years in prison and a $15,000 fine for the burglary charge and Lindsey faces up to six months in prison and a $1,000 fine for the theft charge.

According to a BCSO press release, the duo are also responsible for multiple burglaries in Clermont County and in Indian Hill in Hamilton County.

Lindsey is currently being held at the Brown County jail on $100,000 bond, and Miller is currently being held on $50,000 bond. The BCSO press release claims that the value of objects stolen by Lindsey and Miller is more than $150,000.

Lindsey was previously convicted of two counts of burglary, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced to a year and a half in the Ohio Department of Corrections. He was also mandated to pay restitution to three victims.

A preliminary trial date is set for Thursday.
