The Southern Hills JVSD Board of Education will meet in regular session 6 p.m. Thursday, July 30, in the board office located 9231 Hamer Road, in Georgetown.

Dusty Faul Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser

A spaghetti dinner will be held as a fundraiser for the Dusty Faul family on Saturday, Aug. 1. Dinner will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, drink, and dessert. The cost for the meal is $8.

Doors will open 11 a.m. The fundraiser will include a quarter auction and split the pot raffle.

The event will take place in the Decatur Community Center.

Farm Bureau Family Event

The Brown County Farm Bureau will host the Farm Bureau Family Event from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. The event will be held at the fairgrounds in the carpeted room on the east side of the Administration Building. This is the room beside the farm bureau office.

Vendor set-up time is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 31.

Open Arms Always to hold meeting

Open Arms Always, a veterans support group, will meet 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Mt. Orab La Rosa’s. The public is welcome to attend.

86th annual Myers Reunion planned

The 86th annual Myers Reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Eagles Lodge in Georgetown. This event celebrates the legacy of Charles and Anna Mary Whitson Myers and their 12 children. A picnic lunch will be shared at 1 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

St. Mary’s Festival

St Mary’s Festival in Arnheim will take place Sunday, Aug 2 . Indoor dining begins at noon and features chicken and roast beef dinners . Dinners run from noon to 4 p.m., outside festival activities conclude 6 p.m. Homemade ice cream will be available and games of chance. Dinner cost for adults is $10 and youth $4.

RULH BOE special meeting

RULH Board of Education will hold a special meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 in the administration office (enter back of the elementary school) to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or officials, finance and budgeting and any other business that may come before the board.

Benefit yard and bake sale

A benefit yard and bake sale will be held for the family of Pastor Duke Franklin, who died unexpectedly in June.

The sale will be held beginning 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8, at New Life Church of God, located on E. Main Street, in Hamersville.

St. Mary Church to host pig roast

The St. Mary Church Pig Roast will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the church. The church is located 3398 state Route 125, in Bethel.

On the menu will be barbecue pulled pork and chicken, farm fresh corn, sides, dessert and beverage.

Presale tickets are adult $7, child $3. Tickets sold at door are adult $9, child $4 (5-10), Children 4 and under eat free.

Young Reunion set

The Young Family Reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Clinton Highland Joint Fire District, located 676 West Street, in New Vienna. Doors open 11:30 a.m., the family will eat at 1 p.m.

Those who attend are asked to bring a covered dish and your own silverware and plates.

There will be a balloon dart board, cornhole and door prizes to be awarded.

Everyone is asked to pass reunion information to all family members.

Catholic Rural Life to meet

Catholic Rural Life of the St. Martin Deanery will hold a regular meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.

The first 45 minutes will be devoted to a special presentation: “Hunger in Ohio or Food for All” by Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio. Learn how to make a difference in the community and be a voice for the poor.

Western Brown Class of 190 reunion planned

The Western Brown Class of 1990 will be celebrating the 25th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 15. It will be held at at the pavilion at Lake Waynoka Campgrounds.

Adult dinner 6 p.m., group picture 7 p.m. Meat will be provided, those who attend are asked to bring a covered dish. This is a BYOB event. The pavilion is reserved from 10 a.m.-midnight.

For those who want to camp the price is $6.25 for traditional campers and tents and $8.25 for full hook-up.

The beach and fishing areas are around the corner and are free and the recreation center is available (pool, gym, hot tub) for $7 a day for non-members.

There is a corn hole tournament the same day in the field next to the pavilion. There are tennis courts and a softball field. There will be music.

The 22nd annual Manchester Fire Department horse show will be held starting 4 p.m. Aug. 15, at the old baseball field, in Manchester.

There will be 32 classes total.

Ohio Rural Heritage Festival Baby Show and Little Mister and Miss

The Ohio Rural Heritage Association Baby Show and little Mister and Miss contest will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, on Front Street. Registration will begin 8 a.m. The show will begin 9 a.m.

There will be boy and girl age divisions, birth to four years old. Little Mister and Miss Contest is for boys and girls four to six years old. There will also be Best of Show classes including Best Heritage Attire.

Ohio Rural Heritage Quilt Show

The Ohio Rural Heritage Festival is hosting a quilt show from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.

It will be held at the Union Township Library Meeting Room. Admission is free and the meeting room is handicap accessible.

The quilts will not be judged, however, each person may vote on their favorite quilt. Chairperson for this event is Judith L. Gray.
